Elle magazine is by far one of my go to’s for inspiration on all front’s. I actually prefer Elle over Vogue (no shots at Vogue) I just feel like Elle suits my style better and I get a more accessible feel as a reader. Anyway, Elle decided to put Pharrell on the cover with this throwback N.E.R.D. album cover look that is underwhelming. With Pharrell being one of my style inspirations I expected more. So instead of people being mad at this late look. They are mad at the Peter Pan Indian war headdress because it is deemed “offensive”. Now I get it, truly I do, but come ON! It’s not that serious. In fashion there are very few rules, really in fact there are none. So the folks who are upset over this probably have never even read Elle, bought an Elle, or knew Pharrell before “Happy” dropped. Which is the most annoying part about this said “outrage”. There are people wearing traditional African, Indian, and Persian clothing and NO ONE IS SAYING ANYTHING. What about the suburban girl with the Turban in Starbucks?! Where’s the outrage there?
I also disagree with Pharrell apologizing for it. Now that he is super mainstream, I’m sure he never expected to have to apologize for things he was doing 3-5 years ago. This is the second time in the last 6 months (first the album cover debacle, now this!) Anyway, Skateboard P, keep rockin in the Free world, and stop apologizing for things that don’t need to be. You are still my guy and you should be mad that you and Elle decided with this look for the cover (AGAIN that’s the real outrage)
Love Ya…Mean it.
