So Sneakercon came to the Bay today and thanks to my homie giving me the heads up because I totally missed that memo. I have seen pics and blog posts about Sneakercon but never have had the opportunity to experience the event for myself.
Let me preface this by saying, I am a fan of both Nike and Givenchy. However the sum of the two left much to be desired. Glorified Air Forces are not my jam. I would have preferred an Air Max, Roshe run etc. When I initially heard about the Nike x Riccardo Tisci collaboration I was really excited. I immediately started thinking about what the collection was going to look like and how epic it was going to be. (I even posted about it HERE) Along with thinking about how much money I needed to put to the side in order to make sure I had a pair. For lack of a better description…I WAS JUICED…Then I saw the actual designs, and immediately reallocated those funds to my Asos wish list.
I totally see where Tisci was going with the designs especially based of what he delivered in his most recent Men’s collection. For me it just didn’t quite connect. I hope they give this another go, but a different design angle altogether, I know Riccardo has it in him to make me want to skip meals and buy his Nikes…..Maybe next time.
What did you think about the collection? Wowed or Nah?
(this is not a hate post, this is a real post)
Today marks the birthday of Nike’s iconic shoe… The Air Max! Turning 28 today Nike made “air visible” by showcasing an air bubble in the sole. With the collaborative efforts of Frank Rudy, Mark Parker, and Tinker Hatfield. This team revolutionized the way we see air. To celebrate this great day in sneaker history Nike is releasing a special shoe for its birthday!
Spring is just around the corner, even though in California right now it feels like it’s semi already here. So if you are constantly thinking about your wardrobe and stay on a mission to get fresh…..you’re welcome. Stan Smith Adidas have really been my only favorite from them. They fit well, are easy to clean and the color ways are pretty versatile. My main struggle with men’s shoes is my foot is small so sometimes things don’t come in my size. Which is tragic. I hope these do because those red and turquoise I NEED in my life. These drop March 1st so keep an eye out.
I have never really been into Reebok too much but, when I see a shoe I like it really doesn’t matter who made it. So in today’s episode of shoes I’m listing after I present Melody Ehsani Reebok snakeskin print pump sneaker. They will be available Feb 1st on her website http://www.MelodyEhsani.com and will retail for $200 just in time for valentines day (or nah?). I passed on her first couple of shoes but these are a must cop for me. Check them out!
FYI Chucks always hurt when you first get them. My advice is to break those joints in or else you will suffer. Beat down chucks are the move anyway! As for the flannels I don’t believe in spending a whole bunch of money on them…Your best bet is hitting up your local thrift store. They are already broken in. Shine On!
