May Moods…..

20140509-154446.jpg

This month I am still obsessed with my Tumblr and it is totally serving me when it comes to giving me motivation for my outfits. Naturally I am into texture, mixing prints, and masculine and feminine styles. I’m what you call an emotional dresser, so depending on my mood, or the music I’m listening to that is the look I go for. I also made a mood board, that I have hung in my room that I look at to motivate me when getting dressed too.

There has been a lot of life events that I have participated in over the past couple of weeks. Bridal Showers, Birthdays, and Wedding celebrations. So I’ve had to actually put on dress clothes and put down the sneakers. I actually enjoy dressing up when I have the opportunity, living in Oakland I feel like I don’t get to much  because it’s so laid back( and I have the dressed down look waaaaay covered) I also have a photo shoot Sunday for a blog feature that I’m in. I am SO nervous about this, since I am always behind the scenes and a general goof troop when It comes to be a serious Model. Also having it only be one look, is a challenge because getting a feel for my style in one swoop is going to be hard for me to convey. Stay tuned for the pics from that! Let this mood board motivate you to flourish this weekend! Happy Friday!

A Series of (Un) Fortunate Events…

20140508-065102.jpg

This week has been trying it and rewarding in so many ways and it’s not over. However we have to start on Monday. I went to the side hustle (my day job) came home, went to the gym, then started organizing my closet. In the middle of me doing that (which I didn’t even want to do in the first place, I love clothes….dislike folding them) the water heater decides it’s done and bursts. Leaks water everyyyyyyyyyyywhere! Which meant, I had to stop what I was doing to prevent swimming in my living room. Continue reading

Curator of Style…..

20140421-124553.jpg

Shot by @erkthajerk

I’m always trying to figure out new ways to stretch my creativity and I also enjoy working with others who are good at things that I am not. Like many stylishly conscious people I look to celebrities, artists, and designers to pull inspiration for my personal style. However the most effective influence can be found right in your own backyard.

Living in Oakland I feel like have access to a multitude of cultures and people who have distinct personal style. Since I have moved here I can see how my environment has directly influenced how I dress. This prompted me to come up with the “Locally Fresh” series. The goal is to put two people together. One photographer and one subject with distinct personal style, give them some guidelines and very little direction and see what happens. I believe in magic and to me this is what magic looks like. Identifying strengths and watching them flourish. I’m excited to share this first installment with you this week and hope that something about this influences you to take risks and be creative. Let me be your tour guide or a curator if you will of style.

Dear Eastbay And Hypebeasts…..Updated

20140415-082853.jpg

Don’t mess this up for me! As most know by now there is going to be a gargantuan restock of Jordan’s Saturday on Eastbay.com. Now I am not one to buy every single Jordan that comes out. I strive to maintain a balance in my closet between heels and sneakers. However there are three pairs of Jays that I missed out on that are going to be on sale Saturday that I MUST get. My soul will not rest until I have them. Like I said There’s ONLY three and most have Nostalgic value because I couldn’t afford (and my mom wasn’t having it) to buy them when they first came out when I was a kid.

Closet Essentials: The Fringe Bag

20140304-220131.jpg

My style is truly a mixture of several inspirations. Men’s & Women’s high fashion, street wear, movies, rock stars, family members, you name it. So it’s perfectly normal to catch me in sneakers, random Wal Mart sweats and a unique girly purse. I carry my fringed bag ALOT. So much so that it’s on it’s last days. So I am on the market for a new one. No matter what I have on ,my fringe bag gives the right amount of rock star and femininity. It moves when you walk and has a bit of sass. It works for all seasons too! Some may not agree… But to me that’s exactly what makes personal style…..PERSONAL. So in doing my research I found some wonderful affordable and (not so affordable) bags I would add to the wardrobe. Check out my picks below.

George J Love $72, yoox.com
Gucci Nouveau Frunge Suede bag $1,950, Gucci.com
Asos Fringe bag $85, Asos.com
Yardena Silva Shopper bag $358, boticca.com

Kith NYC Is Going To Make My Bank Account Cry…

20140228-203243.jpg

I was minding my business at work today when I got a mention from my very fly friend @Msquar_D. He gave me a link to the KithNYC store for their “Us” crew neck collection coming out tomorrow. For anyone who pays attention to my blog (or me in general) they KNOW I love a crew neck. Why would he do this to me? Why did I click the link? French Terry cotton, raglan sleeves!?! WHY?! I want all three colors and the Calvin Klein underwear. This is so unfair! Look for yourselves. Thanks Mark. My account now hates you… But my closet loves you.
