Spending Everything on Alexander Wang…

Fashion week is underway folks. Which means we are looking ahead at what Spring 2015 has to offer us. Fashion is so fast, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with what season we are looking at. I mean I am still trying to finalize my Fall and Winter looks (operation dress like Kanye). Anyway I have been taking a look at the shows and gathering my thoughts and feelings. So far so good I would say. Nothing I that wanted to write home about with the exception of a few. Case in point Alexander Wang. With a looming collaboration with H&M dropping soon, he made sure that Fashion Week was not left off the agenda.

A Word From Tim Gunn…..

I originally wrote this post back in 2008. I found it today and it’s relevance still holds true. Hope this advice helps!

I think Tim Gunn is a fashion genius, the man knows his stuff and speaks in a way that is appealing to all people. If you look a hot mess he knows how to tell you in the nicest, most intelligent way. The other day I was reading his book, Tim Gunn: A Guide To Quality, Taste & Style and in the beginning he talks about ways to express your like or dislike for an article or collection of clothing. He explains that if you are going to critique something use words that will help you make the distinction between why it appeals to you or why it doesn’t. This is helpful on the journey to discovering what works for you and what doesn’t.

I’ve Been Workin, I’ve Been Workin…..

So I’ve been slacking on blogging. Which is not cool. But I’ve been busy! I had the opportunity to style a photo shoot for one of my favorite brands Marshall Nash. It’s always a good time on set when working with JaEvon and she always casts cool models to work with. The vision was inspired by the movie “The Lost Boys” mixed with girly elements. Bringing these two ideas together and making it modern was a fun challenge to take on. I can’t wait to share the final edits with you guys. I always get super proud and excited to show work that I was apart if and see how a group of people contribute to an end result. Check out some behind the scenes below!

Lusting After: Moschino

20131227-122037.jpgMan, I swear the closer it gets to my birthday, the more things I lust after. Some are hoop dreams, and I never expect anyone to buy most of this stuff for me. However, to buy for myself….YES! I have been in love with Moschino for a long time (since the 90’s) I have obsessed over that belt forever (among other items). I enjoy that their designs can be dressed up or down and make a statement on their own. No need to over accessorize or over dress with the bags, belts or clothing.

I think that having unique statement pieces can go a lonnnng way in a wardrobe. Just make sure that they are timeless to you and that you would want to wear them for years to come. Be a repeat offender of the items you love! Here are my faves.

5 Luxury Items I’m Crying In A Corner For…….

As much as I love a cheap Wal-Mart or Target item, I love Net-A-Porter and stores of the like. However, I live in California(cost of living is disrespectful) and grad student (equally disrespectful). So dropping copious amounts of money on some Chanel boots isn’t in the cards for me (FOR NOW). A girl can dream (or stop eating out so much and buying Hennessy on the weekend) Here are the five items that I have starry eyes for this week.

In Cool People News: Diet Coke x Mychael Knight

BZr1ezBCQAAOsv-

Naturally Project Runway is one of my favorite shows. I cannot sew and I’m always impressed and inspired by designers that can make such amazing clothing by hand. One of my faves from the show and my homie Mychael Knight designed this Diet Coke can for Taylor Swift.

I enjoy when brands team up with fashion to market in an different way. It’s so fun and the can is so pretty it makes you want to put it on display rather than drink it! Check out designs you can purchase at www.shopmk.net/ and follow him on twitter @MychaelKnight and Instagram: MychaelKnight
