I am a self proclaimed introvert until I have some Hennessy. Which is why on a sunny Sunday afternoon I saw Porsche while turning up at a day party and was able to talk to a then stranger. Her style was magnetic, you could tell just by looking at her that getting dressed for her was effortless. So of course she had to be the next installment in my “Locally Fresh” series. This time around I used “Ralph” and shot Porsche myself. I was also able to ask her some questions and talk style for a bit. Check out the interview below and get to know this “Chic Little Hippie” better.
Who are you? Where are you from?
Ugh, I so hate this question lol. Probably because I’m still trying to figure out exactly who I am, but anyway I’ll make this short. I’m Porsche Wiggins, a 24 year old aspiring designer from Compton. Simple!
Describe your style.
To me I don’t think I really have a particular style, I don’t like to put myself in a box so I guess you can say my style is pretty free and diverse. One day I’m super colorful and no item matches one another, then the next day I’m in a simple dress with heels or I’m on t-shirt, jeans and sneakers.
What are your favorite items in your wardrobe?
I have this cute oversized floral button up from H&M that I like to throw over everything and a cheap pair of leopard print boots from forever 21. I’ve had both for years now and the boots are falling apart :(. I also have an obsession with unitards/onesie right now, I wish I could wear one everyday.
Who are your style inspirations?
I’m inspired by a lot of different things; people, nature, trends, my mood, etc. Solange has to be my favorite person for style inspiration though, I love her play with prints and bright colors.
What is your thought process when getting dressed?
When getting dressed I think about my current mood the most; am I happy, turnt, sad, relaxed, tired, and then I usually throw on whatever fits that mood. I also think about how can I look different from yesterday or the day before, I get bored with things easily so I try to switch it up.
If there is one fashion era you could dress in forever what would it be?
I would have to say the 70s, I love me a high waisted bell bottom, crop top and a curly fro. Plus the people seemed so happy and free in that era. (Their dancing was dope too lol)
What do you like about Bay area fashion?
Bay Area fashion/style is so unique and natural. I feel like fashion here isn’t as magnified as NYC or LA so it forces that unique creativity. I think that’s pretty cool, because nobody wants to look like everybody.
