Comfort will forever be my motto when it comes to my style. I have GOT to be comfortable! Even on the days when I want to get super dressed up with heels, etc comfort comfort comfort! Anyway if you read my blog consistently you know that sweatsuits are my jam. I love a good one, and menswear ones seem to be so much better than the womens’ ones that I find. Mainly because of the quality and fit.
Anyway enough about my feelings. This morning during my daily scroll of instagram I discovered this collaboration between New York City based streetwear brand UNYFORME and streetwear innovator Frank Cooke of Cooked Up.

September Goals…

IMG_2738.JPG

September is here, which naturally means summer is on it’s way out!  This also means I need to start preparing my wardrobe to dress like Kanye in GQ (this is so happening folks). Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Mainly because I feel like you have more versatility in outfits. Also because Starbucks starts rolling out the seasonal beverages, as well as the most important of all… I can bust out my beloved crewneck sweatshirt collection on the regular! All reasons to love the fall. So in order to be prepared for all this greatness that the fall season is going to bestow upon us. The only way to get the most out of it is to write some goals down. So for September mine are the following:

My Fall season wardrobe wise is about to be so poppin! The lookbook for the Altuzarra collaboration with Target dropped this week and I’m feeling it. For some reason it gives me the vibe of Kim K going on a job interview(which is awesome!). In other words I’m here for a lot of the pieces. When I get dressed I like to straddle the fence when it comes to my style. I either go for cool relaxed tomboy vibe or ultra sexy dressed up (sometimes I try a combo).

Boy do I love cool sh*t. Like really love it, especially when I can identify with the vibe and the message. Thanks to my good friend @iso14below over at iso14below.com I have found a mag that I know is going to super pop.  10 year design veterans in the fashion industry Elizabeth and Ashta are on a mission to empower the progressive and stylish “tomboy”. By offering a magazine that honors that spirit and style for women.

I have A LOT of sisters. Enough to have our own starting lineup in a soccer match. With that being said we all have very distinct styles. Which is great because I always pull inspiration for my own outfits and style from people I know and my surroundings. So it’s only right that I tap one of them to talk about their perspective on style and trends. This go ’round we have Sigourney Bennett aka Siggi B (for short).
What I enjoy about Siggi’s style is that she likes to make dressing look easy, classic, and funky at the same time. Along with that she knows her shoes! Homegirl can tell you anything that you want to know about a dope heel and she rocks them well. However being a California girl she knows how to dress down with chucks and still stay fresh. She provided me with her top five shoes for the season and some style advice on how she would rock them. Check it out!

Jam Of The Week…..

I have been a fan of Janelle Monae since I heard “Letting Go” on the “Purple Ribbin All Stars” compilation album. The musicality of her songs and the fact that she stays true to her creativity I truly admire. Plus shes great on stage and hella fine. This week she dropped a video for the song “Electric Lady” and I’m in love with it. I have been obsessing over this varsity jacket (that I’m afraid to share but may in another post) so when I saw Janelle wearing one in her video I knew it was a sign. It also has a college sorority feel to it and some of you know(or not) that I pledged in college so it totally tickled me. Anyway check out the video below its super cute and has cameos from TI, Joi, and choreographer Fatima (all three people I totally LOVE)

First things first Shateria Moragne-EL is one of my girl crushes. She is so awesome to me style, hair, swag (yes swag). Shes basically everything, so my love for this line is so legit. I also have an even deeper love for gold toned jewelry so this whole situation is right up my alley. Anyway Shateria’s cool girl clothing line teamed up with LA based jeweler Mylo to create this fun Longitude x Latitude collection. The line includes bracelects, rings, and earrings that all have something to do with locale. Continue reading

Mr. West is the latest baddie to grace the cover of one of my favorite publications. Shot by Patrick Demachelier, styled by Kanye. This spread feeds so deeply into my menswear loving side. All the looks are simple but super clean, fitted in the right places and PERFECT layering. I would wear every single look in this shoot and may try to copy some of these for the fall. Check out my favorites below and Shmoney dance over to  GQ.com for the full spread. Continue reading
