Trippin in San Francisco…

IMG_4556.JPG

This past weekend I had to play tour guide and show some friends around the city. Let me preface this by saying I don’t know much about navigating San Francisco, I spend more time in Oakland and Berkeley so I am way more familiar with the terrain. In addition I’m not big on tourist attractions period so I try to stay away. However this weekend I had to step out of my comfort zone and I must say it was pretty fun. Continue reading

Cooking is Stylish: This Thanksgiving…I Had The Answers…

IMG_4438.JPG
It has been a long time since I have done a food post. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram then you already understand my passion for good and pretty food. This love for food sometimes doesn’t support my love for fashion because I am not sample size (and working out is not my friend…sometimes) but I love to cook and eat. In my world having attractive food is just as important as it tasting good. My mother taught me this and my grandmother taught her so I have been this way forever. No matter what I cook, I plate my food like it is being served in a restaurant. Visuals are not only important in fashion, they are important for everything! Especially food.
Anyway, this year was my second stab at cooking my family’s Thanksgiving dinner. I must say, I am patting myself on the back and so is the rest of my family. IT WAS GOOD! And Pretty! Here are a couple of tips that I have learned about plating and cooking that I would love to share:

I am a slacker….At least this week I am. I apologize for the lack of posts. However having a full time job and family responsibilities get in the way sometimes and blogging on an iPhone isn’t the easiest. I know you don’t care about these struggles so moving on.

This month I have been seeing a lot of trends in my life. Things that I just am so excited about and keep returning to because they are just THAT great to me. So I decided to share them with you. Some are fashion related some are not, but still get me excited in the same way fashion does.Ill keep everything brief because I know people don’t like to read. So here it goes: Continue reading

So Necessary: Adidas Stan Smith

IMG_4333.JPG

My big sister was a huge and still is huge a Adidas fan. I remember her wearing gazelles as a kid and wished that we had the same shoe size so I could wear hers to school. My older sister is the first person who instilled the importance of having a quality sneaker collection in my life. She had Stan Smiths in every color and will wear them with the flyest sweatsuits to school. So I have always had a love for them. However it’s really hard for me to keep white shoes clean so I have ran through several pairs of Stan Smiths. My favorite story about a pair of Smith’s that I had was when I was living in Atlanta and I was hanging out with my sister by Stankonia and Alex studios. Continue reading

Personal Style: Sweatpants are Always Appropriate…

IMG_4264.JPG

Sweatpants will always be a in my closet, and I will always try to wear them with anything, anywhere. They are just comfortable and because they are popular right now, you can find a plethora of styles in stores and online. These Marshall Nash “Party Queen” sweats are a great addition if you are looking for some sweats that will be universal. There is always more than one way to wear a sweat suit and I am always on a mission to make them work for any occasion.

I’m No Model Either Baby…

IMG_4266.JPG

Every time I do a post or work with someone where I’m the subject of the photo shoot… I get slightly stressed out. I wanted to be a stylist because they work behind the scenes. I have just never been totally comfortable in front of the camera (still not). In this day and age of the personal style blogger. Sometimes it is necessary to be the subject, le sigh, and those days are the ones that are a challenge for me.

These days it feels like I barely have time to actually sit down and watch a movie or my favorite TV show.  I had some free time Friday evening and decided go to into the list of things I have been meaning to watch and chose the documentary “Mademoiselle C”. If you are unfamiliar, this is a documentary about the former editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld. The film follows her journey of creating her own magazine now titled C.R. FashionBook.
