Well well whale! I am the most slack blogger on the planet. Real life really gets in the way and then I look up and it’s been over a month since I’ve posted. So here we are and I’m not even talking about fashion. As a self proclaimed food designer and a highly visual person. I just like things that looks good, Including my food. Yes, I plate my food like it being served in a restaurant. Yes, I only like serving my food on white plates because it looks better (and better for taking pics). To give you some background my mom used to own a restaurant and so did my uncle and they are both great chefs. My mother always taught me the importance of flavors, using quality ingredients, and that eating is 80% visual so it has to LOOK good. I’m sure my mom thinks that I don’t listen to her sometimes growing up but that lesson sure stuck with me. Continue reading

New Year, All New Everything….

Happy New Year! Whew! I had to take a mini break I also got sick and threw a major party as well. So blogging had to take a back seat. However, I am off my slack and ready to post. Let’s start with talking about me(lol). I love entertaining people and cooking, so naturally I wanted to have a dinner party with friends and family. Continue reading

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to me! Who knew I could have two birthdays?! (my legit one is in January) Today a year ago I decided to get back into doing what I love and start blogging. I must say it is one of the best choices I’ve made this year. I love fashion and love people even more. To be able to write about my friends, people I admire, things I love (and not so much) has enabled me to flex creatively and learn about my strengths and bring them out in others. Having this blog has encouraged me to take risks and put myself out there is a way that I was not used to or comfortable with. To me this is not just another fashion blog, to me it’s something that I want you to love and appreciate and become something that you feel is yours as much as it is mine. Discipline is something that is a challenge for me sometimes, so being able to commit and stay consistent just means more for everyone ( and proof to myself that I am not a world class procrastinator.) Thank you to all my friends, Family, and STRANGERS. Who retweet, like, re post , comment and come up to me in the streets to show love. It really means a lot to me. I will continue to commit to you and create. Thank you. And have some Hennessy for me today!
Gratefully,
Maryam (but my real name is Unicorn Shawty)
Locally Fresh: Porsche W.
I am a self proclaimed introvert until I have some Hennessy. Which is why on a sunny Sunday afternoon I saw Porsche while turning up at a day party and was able to talk to a then stranger. Her style was magnetic, you could tell just by looking at her that getting dressed for her was effortless. So of course she had to be the next installment in my “Locally Fresh” series. This time around I used “Ralph” and shot Porsche myself. I was also able to ask her some questions and talk style for a bit. Check out the interview below and get to know this “Chic Little Hippie” better.
September Goals…

September is here, which naturally means summer is on it’s way out! This also means I need to start preparing my wardrobe to dress like Kanye in GQ (this is so happening folks). Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Mainly because I feel like you have more versatility in outfits. Also because Starbucks starts rolling out the seasonal beverages, as well as the most important of all… I can bust out my beloved crewneck sweatshirt collection on the regular! All reasons to love the fall. So in order to be prepared for all this greatness that the fall season is going to bestow upon us. The only way to get the most out of it is to write some goals down. So for September mine are the following:

Summer Rituals…
Summer is on and poppin and I am loving it. Besides the Fall; Summer is runner up for my favorite season. It’s all about dressing for the temperature, having fun, and drinking in public!(kidding but not) Anyway, one of my favorite local designers Marshal Nash just dropped their summer collection which makes looking sexy and staying cool extra easy. Things Cool People Like: Black Ivy x World Cup…

Photos via blackivy.co
The duo of Street Etiquette have released a super sweet line to commemorate the World Cup that is nothing short of amazing. When I was a kid I played Soccer (futbol) for about 8 years. At first my mother made me do it (for what reason I don’t know) because to this day she talks about how she had to drive my sisters and I all over town on the weekends to games, and how she secretly wished that we would lose games so that she could have some chill time. (shady) Continue reading
